3 days From OUARZAZATE Desert Tour - Draa valley – Erg Chigaga – Sahara camp

1 Day

Starting at 8:30 am from your hotel or riad, where the driver picks you up.
We drive to Agdz City and stop for Berber tea and refreshments. This is where the Draa valley starts. From here we drive offroad along Draa valley’s former caravan route until we reach Zagora city, Lunch time in Zagora.

After lunch we pass by Tamegroute ceramic village and stop for a visit in a pottery shop.

We continue to the nomadic village of M’hamid. This is where the paved road ends and the desert starts. Camels are waiting to take you on a 2 hours ride into the desert. You can go to highest dunes where you enjoy an unforgettable sunset. The night is spent in a nomad tent close to the dunes of Erg Lihoudi.

2 Day

After breakfast you return by camels to M’hamid village. we leave in 4WD for the dunes of Erg Chigaga, a drive for 60 km offroad. On the way we pass different features of the desert, like erg, rag, hammada and oases, lunch time.
When you arrived to our desert camp in Erg Chigaga, you can climb the highest dunes, 300 metres, bury your feet in warm, soft sand and look at a wonderful sunset over sand dunes as far as the eyes can see. Enjoy the wonderful feeling of freedom, peace and silence and amazing experience.

Afterwards you can try the sandboards down the dunes.

Back in the camp there is time for a shower to freshen up. A three course delicious dinner is served in the restaurant tent. After dinner the nomads entertain you with traditional music around the fire place in the middle of the camp.

Enjoy a magical starlit sky and sleep in a nomad tent. Or, if you prefer, you can sleep outside under the stars.

3 Day

Wake up early morning to watch the beautiful sunrise from the top of a sand dune. Or just wake up for breakfast before we start our way back to Ouarzazate through 100 km offroad driving in the desert. We follow the old route of the rally Paris-Dakar, across the dried out Lake Iriki. Fossils can be found in this part of Sahara.
We stop at Foum Zguid for lunch. The road back to Ouarzazate is paved and we stop at the village Taznakht, which is famous for it’s Berber carpets.
